Welcome to my worlds! My name is Aric, and I've been playing Dungeons & Dragons since long before I could grow a beard. At this point I have over 20 years of experience with the game, and 12 years of experience as a Dungeon Master. I'm a history/literature major, which has allowed me to pull from cultural periods across time and the globe to influence my games.
Previously I was employed as a chess instructor with the San Diego Chess Academy, where I tutored children between the ages of 6-12 in the strategies and theories of one of the world's oldest games. This gave me plenty of experience teaching children in a fun and creative way with years of age difference, a skill I now apply to beginner gamers.
I am also a current member of the San Diego Storytellers, where I tell stories of folklore, mythology, and fantasy both traditional and original for live audiences.
Dungeons & Dragons, or D&D for short, is a fantasy Role-playing game that takes place within the shared imagination of the Dungeon Master, or DM, and the players.
The DM’s job is to play the role of narrator and referee, creating the setting,environment, adversaries, and allies the players will meet, as well as mediating the rules of the game.
Each player creates a single character to act as their avatar in the game, basing them on their favorite heroic archetypes in literature and film, or creating something entirely new.
D&D's emphasis on personal interaction, creative group storytelling, and indulgence of the imagination makes it approachable and highly adaptable to any group of friends looking to engage in escapist fantasy and slay a few dragons for a single night of adventure.
